It is also responsible for certain initiatives such as Smart Meters.

    The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) regulates the province's electricity and natural gas sectors in the public interest through regulation that is effective and transparent, concordant with established objectives that govern the energy sector while protecting the interests of consumers and promoting viable and efficient energy services at a reasonable cost.
  • Independent Electricity System Operation (IESO)
    The IESO manages Ontario's electricity system and operates the wholesale electricity market. It forecasts the demand for electricity and ensures that there are available supplies to meet that demand.   • Ontario Power Authority (OPA)
    The Ontario Power Authority is responsible for the implementation of the objectives in four key areas: Power System Planning, Generation Development, Conservation Bureau and Development in the Hydro-Electric sectro. The Corporate Affairs service group provides the required professional and administrative support.
  • Electrical Safety Authority (ESA)
    The Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) establishes and administers specific regulations related to electrical installations, equipment, fixtures and cables. If you have any question related to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, call 1-877-372-7233.

  • Ontario Power Generation (OPG)
    Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is an electricity generation company whose principal business is the generation and sale of electricity in Ontario.
